Church of God Lexington KY

We know that everyone has a preconceived idea of what the church of God in Lexington KY looks like.  For better or worse, we’ve all got our idea of “church” or “religion” or “Christians” in general.
Here’s a key verse  that has come to define the kind of church Bethel is:   Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people! (Ps. 66:5, NLT).  We’re on a mission as a church of God in Lexington KY to convince people that God is still in the business of doing awesome miracles!
The church of God in Lexington KY is God’s greatest tool for helping people experience the unconditional love of the Father.  This is the kind of Come & See church as God intended us to be.  Christians and non-Christians talk about everything that is wrong with the church, and in the next breath say how much they love God!  Here’s the truth:  You cannot love God and hate is wife!
As a church of God in Lexington KY, we’re REDEFINING the expectation of what the church should be.  We’re returning to the original intent of what God designed HIS BRIDE to be!  If we want to love God, we MUST love the church!!
Is the church perfect?  No way!  God doesn’t expect us to love the church b/c it’s perfect; he expects us to love the church b/c she has been chosen to fulfill his mission in the earth!  Great churches, like anything great in our lives, aren’t the result of “just showing up”; they are the result of a self-less commitment to something bigger than ‘me’!
At Bethel, we are redefining the local church!  We’ve all known a a model of church where people come into a building every week and call on and pull on the power of the pastor, not the power of God.   Yet, the bible teaches us that the Spirit of God resides in every person.   The church Jesus died to birth was not designed to be a one man show.   The mission is greater than any one person can accomplish!
The Bible says that God’s “intention was the perfecting & the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church) (Eph 4:12, AMP).  We’ve got to get beyond doing church our way or religions way or the way it’s always been done.  The body of Christ functions best when it operates the way GOD Himself intended it to!
The church God intended us to be makes us all stronger and better, AND it makes us part of something bigger than ourselves!!  The church is NOT the Pastor.  It’s NOT a building. It’s NOT a collection of programs or ministries.   It IS the people of God empowered for the mission of God, making a difference for eternity.
